Weather to Skiweathertoski.co.ukDetailed snow report for 29 March 2026 covering the Alps, other European ski resorts, and North American (US and Canada) ski resorts, including current snow depths, conditions, and
forecasts.
Late season snow conditions have been superb this week in the northern Alps and will continue this way with yet more heavy snow forecast, especially in Switzerland and Austria.
Snow conditions in the southern Alps are generally far more average for the time of year, but here too you can find plenty of good skiing, helped by the below average temperatures that have
benefited all parts of the Alps in recent days.
As to why snow conditions in the northern Alps are so good right now, it’s largely down to the big storm that hit in the middle of last week. This dumped significant snow across the entire
northern half of the Alps (and a few southern regions), with as much as 70-100cm of snow falling across parts of Switzerland and Austria (e.g. Engelberg, Arlberg).
It’s also due to the unusually cold temperatures for late March, with snow falling to as low as 300-500cm in places this week.
Across the pond, the Banff-Lake Louise area remains in pole position…
Austria
Snow Report: Austria – 29 March 2026This
section covers the 29 March 2026 snow report for Austria, including current snow depths at key ski resorts, the condition of slopes and pistes, which ski areas are open, and a brief forecast of snow
over the next few days.
Northern Austrian ski resorts have seen a lot of snow in the last few days with, for example, around 1m of fresh in Lech (125/250cm) since Wednesday, making for some superb snow
conditions here and across the Arlberg more generally.
Further east, there has also been significant fresh snow in recent days in Kaprun (5/195cm) and Obertauern (80/160cm).
Lots more snow is also forecast across many Austrian ski areas this week, with only the south set to miss out. However, you can still find plenty of good skiing in resorts like Carinthia’s
Nassfeld (5/145cm).

Snow Report: France – 29 March 2026This
section covers the 29 March 2026 snow report for France, including current snow depths at key ski resorts, the condition of slopes and pistes, which ski areas are open, and a brief forecast of snow
over the next few days.
Snow conditions are generally excellent in the French Alps for late March thanks to cold temperatures and multiple snowfalls in recent days, especially in the north.
Weathertoski was in Megève (66/140cm) earlier this week, where 15-30cm of fresh snow fell on Wednesday night and the skiing on Thursday was unusually “wintry” for the time of
year.
Megève will close on 6 April (despite having plenty of snow) but this unusually cold and snowy end to the season is great news for higher French ski resorts, such as Val d’Isère
(115/229cm) which intends to remain open for another 5-6 weeks.
A bit more snow is forecast this week in the northern French Alps, albeit not as much as in the eastern Alps.

Italy
Snow Report: Italy – 29 March 2026This
section covers the 29 March 2026 snow report for Italy, including current snow depths at key ski resorts, the condition of slopes and pistes, which ski areas are open, and a brief forecast of snow
over the next few days.
On the whole, Italian ski resorts haven’t seen as much fresh snow in recent days as those further north, but there is still lots of good skiing on offer helped by the relatively cold weather.
Cervinia (75/170cm) is still in full ‘winter mode’ and offering some of the best snow conditions in Italy. Great snow conditions are also on offer in La Thuile
(70/320cm).
The Dolomites are starting to wind down for the season, but you can still find some great piste-skiing in the Alta Badia (10/40cm), with the low temperatures helping to limit the
natural freeze-thaw cycle.
Some parts of the Italian Alps will see some new snow this week, mostly near the border areas, but not as much as further north and east.

Switzerland
Snow Report: Switzerland – 29 March 2026This section covers the 29 March 2026 snow report for Switzerland, including current snow depths at key ski resorts, the condition of slopes and pistes, which ski areas are open, and a
brief forecast of snow over the next few days.
Snow conditions are generally very good across the Swiss Alps, including here in (relatively) low-lying Wengen (25/110cm), where we had packed powder at virtually all altitudes
for much of the day yesterday with another 10cm of so falling last night.
With more snow forecast early this week, especially in the north and east, the excellent snow conditions are expected to continue.
Engelberg (20/270cm) currently has some of the deepest of the fresh snow and is skiing superbly right now. Further south, Zermatt (40/155cm) has seen more modest
snowfalls but is also in excellent shape, not least due to its altitude.

Rest of Europe
Snow Report: Rest of Europe – 29 March 2026This section covers the 29 March 2026 snow report for European ski resorts outside of the Alps, including current snow depths at key resorts, the condition of slopes and pistes, which
ski areas are open, and a brief forecast of snow over the next few days.
There have been further snowfalls in the Pyrenees which means late season conditions are excellent here, especially in higher ski resorts like Andorra’s Pas de La Casa (245/300cm)
and Spain’s Baqueira Beret (170/210cm).
There is still plenty of snow in Scandinavia, as you would expect, with good conditions reported both in Norway’s Hemsedal (55/85cm) and Sweden’s Åre
(60/115cm).
Skiing is still possible in Scotland’s Cairngorm and Glencoe ski areas and, with more snow forecast, may continue for some time. Do check the daily status of each
resort though, as wind can hamper lift operations at times.

section covers the 29 March 2026 snow report for the USA, including current snow depths at key ski resorts, the condition of slopes and pistes, which areas are open, and a brief forecast of snow over
the next few days.
The difficult season endured by most western US ski resorts continues, with unusually high temperatures in recent days.
Colorado’s Breckenridge has seen almost no fresh snow in the last week and has a mid-mountain base of just 75cm. Further west, Utah’s Snowbird has a more
impressive-sounding 190cm mid-mountain, but this too is way below what you would normally expect at this time of year.
Canada
Snow Report: Canada – 29 March 2026This
section covers the 29 March 2026 snow report for Canada, including current snow depths at key ski resorts, the condition of slopes and pistes, which areas are open, and a brief forecast of snow over

Snow conditions remain excellent in the Banff/Lake Louise area, as they have been all season, with base depths of 105/250cm and it is snowing again now.
Further west, Whistler (224cm mid-mountain base) is also in good shape, with relatively low temperatures and flurries today and more forecast at times early next week.
