Snow Report: 14 November 2025
Weather to Ski weathertoski.co.uk Detailed snow report for 14 November 2025 covering the Alps, other European ski resorts, and North America (US and Canada), including current snow depths, conditions, and forecasts.
Aside from in a few far south-western parts of the Alps (where there are no ski areas currently open), there has been no new snow in the Alps for a couple of weeks now. Indeed, the weather in the Alps has turned been exceptionally warm this week, meaning that snow conditions have inevitably deteriorated somewhat.
This is not of any great concern at this time of year, and there is still plenty of decent (albeit hardpacked) skiing on offer across the Alps. Most of this still revolves around glaciers, but there is an increasing number of non-glacial options scattered across the Alps, especially at weekends.
The weather in the Alps will remain mild for a couple of days yet, before turning colder from the north on Monday. There may be a bit of snow at higher altitudes over the weekend, mostly in the south-western Alps, with more widespread snow to increasingly low levels set to arrive late on Sunday or Monday.
The rest of next week will then be cold in the Alps, with the further chance of snow, though detail is hard to pin down at this stage...
7 Austrian ski areas are open today. Most of these are glacier areas, but some have also opened significant non-glacial terrain, notably Sölden which now has over 60km of pistes available despite its modest 25cm upper base.
Hintertux (65cm upper base) and Stubai (45cm upper base) are two other good options, with Obergurgl scheduled to be the first serious entirely non-glacial opening on Thursday (20 November).
Right now, snow conditions are hard-packed, but colder weather and snow are forecast across much of Austria next Monday and possibly again later in the week.
No lift-served skiing is possible in France right now.
Tignes and Val Thorens will be the first resorts to open for the 25-26 ski season on 22 November. Both resorts have established (if still relatively modest) bases at altitude, with some new snow likely on Sunday and possibly at times next week.
Only 3 Italian ski areas are open today, Cervinia (150cm upper base) being the stand-out option with 37km of pistes, including substantial non-glacial terrain.
Sulden am Ortler (40cm upper base) is another option (entirely non-glacial) with over 20km of pistes currently available.
Like everywhere else in the Alps, current snow conditions are hard-packed, but some fresh snow at altitude is likely over the weekend and possibly again to lower levels next week, though detail is hard to pin down at this stage.
Only 3 Swiss ski areas are open today, with Zermatt (150cm upper base) leading the way with 37km of pistes on offer, including the links over into Cervinia.
Many more Swiss ski resorts, both glacial and non-glacial, will be open over the weekend, albeit on a very limited basis. These include Verbier, Engelberg and Davos.
Snow conditions are currently hard-packed, but with colder and potentially snowier weather on the way, conditions should improve markedly next week.
Skiing in Europe outside the Alps is currently limited to a handful of resorts in Scandinavia. Most of these are in Finland, where Levi has around 3km of open pistes on a base of 25cm. Expect cold weather here and across Scandinavia over the next few days.
Around half a dozen western US ski resorts are partially open today, all in Colorado, the biggest name being Breckenridge (45cm upper base) where you can currently ski on 3km of pistes.
The recent dry and mild weather in Colorado will give way to some colder snowier weather early next week.
In western Canada, only Banff (90cm upper base) and Lake Louise (45cm upper base) are currently open, the former offering around 25km of pistes. Early season snow conditions are reasonable here thanks to some fresh snow in the area today.
Our next full snow report will be on
