Sauze d’Oulx is not especially high and snowfall can be erratic. Snow-making has improved matters, but is not as comprehensive as in some other Italian ski resorts.

Both snow cover and snow quality are therefore highly variable, particularly early and late in the season.

Neighbouring Sestriere offers direct access to the highest and shadiest terrain.
