Except for a few short runs on its glacier, La Grave is an off-piste only resort.
Its exceptional altitude means that the chances of finding powder are quite good on the upper mountain, but conditions lower down can be tricky, not least because there is no grooming.
Where to ski in bad weather:
La Grave is essentially an off-piste only area with very few trees and limited options in bad weather. In poor visibility we recommend driving to Serre Chevalier (Monêtier-les-Bains), 30 minutes away by car, where the lower slopes are thickly forested.
