Like nearby Wengen, Adelboden is close to the northern edge of the Swiss Alps where the weather is more volatile than further south, in resorts such as Zermatt.

Natural snowfall is relatively high in Adelboden, but the risk of rain is greater than in most Swiss resorts, with no really high terrain to fall back on in warmer weather.

That said, most of the skiing is above 1500m and snow cover is therefore reasonably reliable for most of the season, even if snow quality is quite variable.

Where to ski in poor snow conditions:

The north-facing TschentenAlp and Luigi sectors usually offer the best snow if conditions are less than ideal.

Where is Adelboden?

Adelboden is located in the Bernese Oberland, close to the foothills of the northern Swiss Alps.

In our weather updates it would be included in the region that we refer to as the: "north-western Alps" or the "northern Swiss Alps".
