Galtür does not have the extent of high altitude slopes that neighbouring Ischgl can offer, but its snow reliability is still very good by Austrian standards.

Expect good snow quality for much of the winter, especially at altitude, but more variable conditions towards spring.

Where to ski in bad weather:

Galtür has very few trees, and offers little shelter in really bad weather.

Where to head in poor snow conditions:

If snow conditions are really poor, your best bet is to make the short bus journey to Ischgl, which has more in the way of high altitude skiing.
