Steamboat is on the low side for Colorado, but still boasts exceptional natural snowfall and also has top to bottom snow-making. Snow cover is therefore reliable, and the chances of finding powder are good. Furthermore, the tree-line extends to the top of the mountain so disruption from bad weather is minimal.

If there is one drawback it is that many of Steamboat's slopes face south or west, and snow quality can be affected more easily than in other Colorado resorts, particularly late in the season.
