Who got the most snow in the Alps in 2019-20?

The 2019-20 ski season was the mildest ever in the Alps, but where got the most snow and when?

5. Mölltal, Austria

Opening dates: Usually open from mid-June through until spring (this year it was forced to close on 16 August 2020, but hopes to open again in late September)

The Mölltal (Carinthia) is one of Austria’s lesser known glacier areas, but it is open most of the year - even if that means just three runs in the summer (including September). By contrast, up to 71km of pistes are possible in winter.

In September you can expect around 5km of pistes to be open, with a top height of 3122m and a vertical drop of 300m.

Of France’s three summer ski options, Les 2 Alpes is comfortably the most extensive.

The terrain is mostly easy, but reasonably varied, with potentially 800m of vertical on offer in good conditions. This summer (2019), however, the vertical is limited to around 400m due to construction work.

The glacier in Les 2 Alpes also boasts a world class terrain park.
