Latest snow forecast

Updated: 12.50pm Friday 18 March 2016

High pressure is in charge of the Alpine weather right now, and will continue to influence proceedings over the weekend. This means lots of fine sunny weather for everyone, with cold nights but pleasantly warm afternoons.

Although it will feel warm on the slopes, temperatures are not excessively high for mid-March and, with low humidity, snow conditions will hold up well. Yes, there will be plenty of slush on low and/or south-facing slopes, but on higher north-facing terrain the snow should stay wintry all day long.

The weather in the Alps will turn a little more unsettled towards the middle of next week with some flurries in places. However, widespread heavy snow is not expected at this stage.

Temperatures will drop again in the run up to Easter - good news for the final “rush” of the season...
