Vail has one of the highest snowfall averages in Colorado, and snow cover and quality are generally excellent.

If there is one minor flaw, it is that the famous back bowls get a lot of sun and snow quality can deteriorate fast in spring. Otherwise the area as a whole is very reliable and has a justified reputation for powder. Snow-making is also excellent.
