St Jean d'Aulps Station (formerly known as La Grande Terche) is part of the Portes du Soleil, but is not connected to the main circuit.

At 945m the resort is low, and the home runs are often tricky or closed. Most of the skiing takes place above the 1500m mid-station, however, where snow cover is reasonably reliable. Given the modest altitudes snow quality is more variable.

Where to ski in bad weather:

All of the skiing in St Jean d'Aulps is at least partially wooded and affords reasonable shelter in bad weather.

Where to head in poor snow conditions:

If local snow conditions are poor, your best bet is to head to Avoriaz, for which the nearest access point is Ardent (15 minutes away by car).
