Much like La Clusaz, Megève is very exposed to Atlantic storms and can get masses of snow, particularly at altitude. However, with most of its skiing below 2000m, snow quality is highly variable and rain is also a threat.

That said, its grassy slopes don’t need much cover to be skiable and snow-making here is extensive.

The best conditions are often at Côte 2000 which can stay open until the end of April.

Where to ski in bad weather:

Assuming the snow is ok, Megève is one of the best resorts in France to find yourself skiing in bad weather, with lots of trees in all the main sectors. Mont d’Arbois probably has the most wooded terrain of all though.

Where to head in poor snow conditions:

The best snow quality in Megève is often found around Côte 2000, which faces due north.
