Don’t be put off by Mayrhofen’s low resort altitude. Its main slopes are high by Austrian standards and the area is pretty reliable for snow.

 

Snow-making is also comprehensive and the Tuxer glacier (see Hintertux) is only a short drive up the valley.

Where to ski in bad weather:

Although many of Mayrhofen's slopes are open, there are some trees in the Penken-Horberg area, which is the best place to head to in bad weather.
