Despite being in Spain, Baqueira Beret is actually situated on the “wetter” northern side of the Pyrenees, and feels the full brunt of Atlantic and Arctic storms.

Natural snowfall is impressive but, like elsewhere in the Pyrenees, rain is always a risk – even at high altitude. That said, powder days are plentiful and overall snow reliability is pretty good.

Where to ski in bad weather:

The area is quite exposed, with only a small number of trees on some of the lower slopes. The best runs to head to in poor visibility are probably those under the main gondola, on the run back to Baqueira.
